How to Search the Bryant Court Docket
Open MyCase and select Jay County. No Bryant court choice appears. Use an exact case number, citation, or cross reference when possible. A party name can be refined by court, category, status, and filing dates. Read the court label and newest events before relying on a result.
- Gather names, dates, and all identifiers.
- Select Jay County in MyCase.
- Search the identifier, then a narrowed name.
- Review status, events, and public documents.
- Contact the town or Jay Clerk when no match appears.
A missing result may reflect spelling, timing, age, venue, or an access restriction. MyCase does not show every document. The clerk’s counter, mail, phone, and copy form remain available.
No Separate Bryant Court
The Indiana directory, MyCase selector, and CourtCal response do not list a Bryant court. No Bryant calendar, citation viewer, payment portal, judge, or court phone was found. This is a researched absence in official systems, not proof that no town administrative record can exist.
Search rule: Use Jay County for a filed case and Bryant’s town contact to identify a local ordinance custodian.
Do not select Portland City Court only because it is the sole listed municipal court. Confirm the filing venue first.
The Bryant Municipal Court
There is no separately listed Bryant Municipal Court. The official county directory gives Town of Bryant, c/o Peggy Smitley, P.O. Box 115, Bryant, IN 47326, and 260-703-0922. No separate official Bryant web portal was located.
The town contact is a starting point for an ordinance or administrative record, not the custodian of a Jay court case. State the ordinance, date, names, and citation when asking where a file was kept or referred.
Bryant Population Sources Differ
The county directory displays an older 2014 population figure of 252. The Census place table reports 239 for 2020, which controls the ranking. Neither figure counts court cases or parties.
| Source | Year | Population |
|---|---|---|
| Jay directory | 2014 | 252 |
| U.S. Census | 2020 | 239 |
Label the vintage. The difference can reflect population change, not a source error.
Bryant Court Dates and Settings
A Bryant date appears under the Jay court that accepted the case. A setting can be an initial hearing, pretrial, trial, or review. Read the newest event because a continuance or reset can move a date. CourtCal did not return a Jay node, so use MyCase, the notice, and direct court confirmation.
| Date | Newest event date |
|---|---|
| Time | Listed time to confirm |
| Court | Jay Circuit or Superior |
| Judge | Officer shown for the event |
| Setting Type | Initial hearing, pretrial, trial, or review |
Bryant Has No Calendar Portal
No Bryant-specific CourtCal node, hearing viewer, or online payment system was found. A missing calendar does not cancel a hearing. Compare the summons with the newest MyCase event and call the court named in the case header.
Indiana’s streaming portal includes only hearings a court makes available. A docket entry does not guarantee a stream. If a date was reset, use the newest clerk notice.
Bryant Traffic Tickets
No Bryant citation viewer or payment page was located. Enter the ticket number exactly in MyCase and choose Jay County. The summons should identify the court and appearance date. A town or police record is not the court’s event history, plea, judgment, and costs.
Payment and contest rules depend on the named court. Portland terms do not apply unless Portland City Court owns the matter. Call the filing court or Jay Clerk if no result appears. See Jay County traffic records for the separate BMV driver-record route.
Bryant Copy Request Route
The Jay Clerk form asks for case number, document type, date, parties, delivery, and certification. It lists $1 per page, plus $3 for certification and $3 for exemplification. Confirm fees before payment because official sources contain older conflicting phone strings.
- Decide whether the item is a town record or court filing.
- Obtain the complete case number.
- Name the document and event date.
- Choose plain, certified, or exemplified form.
- Submit through the confirmed counter or mail route.
A narrow request is easier to route than every record tied to a name.
Where Bryant Cases End Up
Jay Circuit and Superior courts hold county cases. Local rules assign listed serious felonies to Circuit and most other criminal matters to Superior, subject to reassignment. Civil, family, and probate cases use the proper court. Bryant’s location does not establish venue.
Docket flow: Bryant record › Jay Circuit or Superior Court › Indiana Court of Appeals
Use the Jay County court docket for a filed matter. Ask Bryant’s contact about a town record that never became a case.
Bryant Federal Case Route
A federal case will not appear in the Jay County filter. The Northern District Fort Wayne Division serves Jay County.

Federal records use PACER. The official PACER entry is separate from MyCase.

Check the court and party before opening billed documents.
Bryant PACER Costs
The PACER pricing page explains current charges and waiver rules.

A federal fee change is scheduled for January 1, 2027. The official notice states 12 cents per page and a $40 quarterly threshold.

This does not change Jay copy fees or MyCase access.
Bryant State and Federal Searches
Verify that a matter is federal before using PACER. A Jay Circuit or Superior case belongs in MyCase even if a filing mentions federal law. PACER searches can incur charges, while Indiana’s public case search follows a different model. Court name, caption, and docket number are the safest clues.
The federal page charge applies to retrieved documents and reports under current rules. The waiver depends on quarterly total charges. Check live pricing at the time of use. A Bryant search made before the 2027 effective date should not use the later price.
Federal and state copies come from different clerks. The Northern District clerk handles federal files. The Jay Clerk handles Circuit and Superior records. Bryant’s contact handles or routes town administrative material. Identify the system before sending a request.
Jay numbers begin with code 38. Circuit uses 38C01 and Superior uses 38D01, followed by year and month, case type, and sequence. A federal number follows another scheme. Preserve every character from the docket header.
When only a party name is known, narrow MyCase with Jay County, category, status, and dates. Try exact spelling before sounds-like or a trailing wildcard. Broad results may exceed the limit and MyCase may present a captcha.
The summary may show parties, counsel, charges or claims, events, settings, financial entries, and public links. Some images remain unavailable remotely. Contact the filing clerk and name the document date. An old Bryant matter may require a legacy index.
Bryant Access Channel Checklist
MyCase is the online state route for a Bryant matter filed in Jay Circuit or Superior Court. Search the exact identifier first, then try a party name with Jay County, case category, status, and dates. A missing result does not prove no case exists. Recent filing delay, old records, spelling, conversion, or confidentiality can prevent an ordinary result.
The Jay Clerk’s counter is the in-person fallback. Staff may use a public terminal or index to locate a public case and can explain copy availability. Bring the full case number and a list of documents. The office can describe its process and fees but cannot interpret a ruling or advise what legal step to take.
Mail is useful for Bryant residents who cannot visit Portland. The published copy form requests the case number, names, document type, date, certification level, and delivery details. Ask the clerk to confirm page count, current payment method, and postage before sending money. Official Jay sources display more than one phone string, so verify contact details through the current state directory.
Telephone contact can identify the custodian and confirm a hearing. The Bryant town number is the starting point for a local ordinance or administrative file, not for a Jay court judgment. Ask whether the town retained the record or referred enforcement elsewhere. For federal material, use the Northern District clerk and PACER instead of the state channels.
Public Access to Bryant Court Records
Indiana Access Rule 4 presumes court-record access, while Rule 5 protects confidential, sealed, expunged, and excluded material. MyCase access may be narrower than counter access. The Jay Clerk handles county court copies, and Bryant’s contact can identify a town custodian.
Use the case number and document date. Phone, mail, counter, and form routes supplement MyCase. An absent online document does not show that the clerk lacks a public copy.
A Bryant requester should identify the source before paying any fee. Town records, Indiana trial-court files, and federal dockets each follow a different route. Ask whether the custodian can provide a redacted public copy when a document contains protected data. Record the court name, request date, quoted page count, certification choice, and delivery method. Those facts make follow-up easier without repeating a broad search. A clerk can explain the public process, but legal advice about an order must come from a qualified source. Preserve copies of all correspondence.
Key Rules:
Access Rule 4 states the access presumption.
Access Rule 5 identifies excluded records.
Indiana Access to Public Records Act governs many town records.
